PREZ' MLB CLUB HIGHROLLER (965) SAN FRANCISCO (BUMGARNER) at (966) ARIZONA (KENNEDY) 4:10 PM Weather: SUNNY, WIND OUT TO RIGHT CENTER 5-10. GAME TEMP 104,RH 20% HEAT INDEX 104 (CHASE FIELD ROOF MAY CLOSE IN HOT WEATHER) San Francisco has won 21 of 30 meetings since the start of last season and 10 of 15 in Arizona. They hold an 8-4 edge in this season's series and the Diamondbacks are without two important bats, Mark Reynolds and Justin Upton. Madison Bumgarner is in a position to earn his second win in as many starts against Arizona. The left-hander allowed two runs over seven innings during a 10-4 victory at Chase Field on July 24 and is coming off one of his better outings this season. Arizona starter Ian Kennedy isn't likely to win his fourth straight. The right-hander has a 2.77 ERA over his last four starts and gave up three runs over seven innings in Tuesday's 7-4 win over San Diego and while the former Yankee is 1-1 with a 3.05 ERA in three starts this season against San Francisco his underlying peripherals show his gains by fortunate circumstances. Kennedy gave up four runs over 6 2-3 innings during the July 24 loss and had been limping to the finish line, posting an ERA above 5 in July and August. The Arizona bullpen will see plenty of work for the remainder of the season, a bullpen that has been abused by lesser lineups this season. Kennedy is expected to be on a strict pitch count (now at 158 innings, career high is 165 innings) in September making any close game dangerous for the Diamondbacks. Expect San Fran, fighting for first place in the West, to outduel the hapless Arizona lineup in this post-Labor Day series. Backing road teams (San Fran) with a starting pitcher whose ERA is 3.70 to 4.20 on the season (NL) against opponent with a starting pitcher whose strikes out 5 or more batters per start when oddsmakers open the money line at +125 to -125 has been a September cash cow, scoring wins at a 77-31 (75%) clip over the last 15 MLB campaigns. 4* Play on San Fran and Bumgarner |

PREZ' MLB TOTAL OF THE DAY MLB 5* (975) KANSAS CITY (O'SULLIVAN) at (976) MINNESOTA (SLOWEY) UNDER 9 (-110) Weather: MOSTLY CLOUDY, 40% CHANCE SHOWER/STORMS. WIND IN FROM CENTER 11-16.GAME TEMP 69, RH 75% O'Sullivan, 22, ended his Angels' career with a strong start against the New York Yankees holding them to two runs and six hits in six innings. Since being traded to KC, the right-hander has been impressive despite his 5.75 ERA over 13.1 innings of work. O'Sullivan allowed six runs on nine hits over five innings but he did not take the loss and was the victim of conditions giving up several long balls to the offense of the Rangers. The venue, Target Field, is a much better fit for O'Sullivan's flyball tendencies, as it is for Twins starter Kevin Slowey. Look for Minnesota to struggle early against the Royals young starter making a play to UNDER 9 runs a value investment. Slowey left his last start, a 9-3 loss to the Angels on Aug. 21, after three innings because of pain in his forearm, but his side sessions since that outing have been favorable. He immediately was placed on the disabled list and given a magnetic imaging resonance exam, which revealed no damage. In four starts prior to the injury, Slowey was 3-0 with a 1.60 earned-run average and expecting a return to that August form against a flyball hitting Royals line, at Target, is reasonable. The lineup of Gregor Blanco, Mitch Maier (first two hitters) and Chris Getz and Yuniesky Betancourt (eight and nine hitters) won't scare any big league pitcher; and Slowey is 7-4 with a 3.71 ERA in 14 home starts this year. He's held the middle of the Royals lineup in check for the most part, regulars Billy Butler (1 for 14) and Alex Gordon (1 for 9) being two of the bats that have struggled against the red-hot Twins pitching staff. The Twins are 18-8 to the UNDER in home games versus teams that don't go deep (averaging 0.9 or less HR's/game this season) with an average final score of less than 8 runs per contest. 5* Play UNDER 9 runs |
